Free Game Resource - Protodimension E-Zine

Protodimension magazine is a free e-zine devoted to "dark" role-playing games with an emphasis on Dark Conspiracy. Dark Conspiracy is a pretty neat game that came out in the early '90s from GDW. It was their take on a dark future, in which horrific beings from other dimensions are worming their way into our reality. Set in the early 21st Century, the game posited a world on the brink of collapse. The players are people who are fighting against the approaching apocalypse.

Like I said, pretty cool.

Anyway, Protodimension is a great fan work. Check it out here.

Gaming Resource - Writeups.org

If you're an RPGer and like superheros AND use either the DC Heroes/Blood of Heroes system or Green Ronin's DC Adventures/Mutants and Masterminds, 3rd Edition then head over to Writeups.org. The site has over 5000 entries for characters from comics, TV, movies, books, video games...just about any source of popular culture. And, it's all free. Most of the entries are illustrated and have extensive stats, history and notes on how to use them in your game. Check it out.

Actually, even if you are not a gamer or use another system, this is still a great resource for info on pop culture characters. So, everyone, check it out.

Free Game - Dog Town RPG

Ever want to be a cinematic gangster trying to seize "a piece of the action" in 1970s New York City? Well, now you can with the Dog Town RPG. The game - the core rules and eight supplements - are available for free at Cold Blooded Games. The system is pretty neat and combat is deadly. The game gives players a specific goal - to raise $100,000 in 90 days - and encourages them to unleash their inner criminal to accomplish this goal.

If you ever wanted to play a character like one of the guys in Goodfellas, King of New York or The Departed this is the game for you. The developer (Jonathan Ridd) has done a great job of producing a nice looking product, one that sets out a goal and achieves it. And it's free!

So, go forth, download and start doin' crimes...like getting sushi and not paying for it.
