In Rika's apartment, the girls are stripping out of their gore stained clothing. Because even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, proper hygiene is essential. The girls soak in the ginormous tub, compare boob sizes, use some sort of aphrodisiac shampoo (no, really) and generally doing what I imagine women do in gym locker-rooms. Rei invades Shizuka's space to see if her boobs are real. Saya, voice of reason that she is, questions the logic of a group shower. Which does lead to the question, "do group showers require a logical reason?" I think not.
While the women are getting to know each other, Takashi and Kohta are checking the apartment out for anything useful. This being the home of a SWAT sniper, they find a cabinet full of guns. Kohta falls in love. With the guns, of course. He tells Takashi (and the audience) way more about the guns then we need to know. Aww, come one, let him have his moment. Takahsi and Kohta share a moment and promise to shoot each other if a zombie takes a chunk out of them. It's a very bromancy moment. We also find out that Kohta received some weapons training when he visited America. Because that's what everyone does here. I'm shooting a gun right now. You know, to inspire my creativity.
Back upstairs, in the more interesting story. Rei has moved on to feeling Saeko's tits. Part of me asks "Why would she do that?" Another part answers, "I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Boobs." Then, all four girls pile into what must be an Olympic-sized bathtub, and Shizuka squirts the girls with water from between her tits. It's a very tender moment, one that greatly increases our knowledge of the characters and their motivations. Which appear to have something to do with boobs. Which is my motivation as well.
Outside, at a nearby roadblock over a bridge, the police are slowly allowing people through the cordon into a safe area of the city. They are given the authority to do whatever it takes to maintain order and are told that communications have broken down. At the barricades, a group of rabble-rousers gather, claiming the virus is an American bio-weapon. Symbolizing how things are collapsing, the police start to open fire on the advancing zombies. The police commander approaches the leader of the mob. He tells them to disperse. The mob leader refuses to leave. So, the commander shoots him in the head.
While order is taking a nose-dive outside, in the apartment, Takashi is nearly sexually assaulted by Shizuka. Best. Shampoo. Ever. She turns her attention to Kohta, who springs a nosebleed in response to her kissing his cheek. Is that a metaphor, or something? Shizuka passes out. Saya is already unconscious on a couch. Saeko is in the kitchen wearing a thong and an apron, preparing a late-night snack. Seems reasonable; that's how I cook. Of course, Rei demands that Takashi pay attention to her. Because she is an annoying b...wonderful individual. Rei proceeds to talk about how great Hisashi was. Takashi, I've been there man. Takashi tells Rei he's sick of it (yeah dude, virtual high-five) and Rei responds by...I don't know, embracing him, then getting on her hands and knees and panting like a dog. It's weird. And not in a hot way. Takashi waves her off, then heads out on to the balcony and sees that that the townhouse is surrounded by zombies.
Back on the bridge, the police use a couple of bulldozers to clear off a group of people and zombies. The police commander then shoots himself in the head.
Okay, this is a pretty good episode. It has weird tonal shifts from the vaguely lesbian antics in the bathroom and the grim happenings outside. The scenes with Kohta and Takashi are nice with some further character developments and background info. The reaction of Takashi and Kotha to Shizuka as she comes on to them is pretty amusing. The big problem is that the bathroom scenes, while titillating (heh, see what I did there) don't add anything to the story. We learn nothing much about the girls, except that Rei has no sense of boundaries when under the influence of sexy shampoo. And, what the heck is that supposed to be?
Anyway, if you are looking for animated nudity and an anime chicks pawing each other, this is the "go to" episode. or, if you like guns, this is the "go to" episode.
Best Line: Takashi after finding the arsenal: "So she [Shizuka] lives here with a friend of hers right? Who is she? Sarah fucking Palin?" Runner-up: Kohta after being kissed by Shizuka: "I like turtles." Well, who doesn't?
Best kill: Has to be a mom getting chomped on by her own daughter. It's predictable, but still pretty brutal.
Fan Service: The whole episode. Okay, the stand out scene? Probably Rei groping Shizuka in the bathtub. Her enthusiasm is infectious. So, if you'll excuse me, I have people to see and boobs to grope...and miles to go, before I sleep.
